Rum & Sargassum joins Bloom Cleantech Cluster Barbados Incubation programme

Rum & Sargassum Inc. has joined an incubator program that promotes cleantech entrepreneurship and the commercialization of new cleantech innovations in Barbados.

The CleanTech Cluster Barbados (BLOOM) incubator program is a project of the Global Environment Facility, jointly funded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Ministry of International Business and Industry and Export Barbados (formerly BIDC).

Created as public-private partnership, the program provides Rum & Sargassum Inc. and other Barbados-based incubatees with shared resources and services, as well as a joint space to work on projects, solutions and marketing.

The Barbados project is a pilot for the regional BLOOM program, which is rolled out by UNIDO within the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centers (GN-SEC). Historically, cleantech clustering has been predominantly a domain of industrialized countries. But there is a critical mass of young entrepreneurs and scientists in developing countries who are keen to work together in a collaborative platform, benefitting from joint resources, intelligence and incubation support.
