Rum and Sargassum has been selected to join a group of businesses whose innovations aim to improve life and shape the future of humanity.
It’s called FutureBARBADOS, an initiative recently launched out of the Office of the Prime Minister of Barbados.
“We are crafting a truly exceptional venture: FutureBARBADOS, a pioneering innovation hub that boldly merges private-sector drive with government support, all steeped in the realms of science and technology on a global scale, right from the heart of Barbados. This is not just a moonshot factory; it’s a vision carefully designed to leverage Barbados’ unique assets of leadership, ambition, perspective, people, leadership and geography,” a FutureBARBADOS statement said.
Rum and Sargassum was selected in the recruitment phase, and its journey started in earnest in mid-October with a two-week on-boarding in the project’s CATAPULT phase.
On November 23, Dr Legena Henry, CEO and Founder of Rum and Sargassum worked alongside Jonathan Reid, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Barbados and Chair of FutureBARBADOS, and Je-meila Moseley of Future Barbados, to coordinate an operational update jointly conducted with the Barbados National Oil Company Limited, at the proposed location for the country’s first-ever biogas service station, in Woodbourne.
“In 2024, Rum and Sargassum looks forward to diving more fully into the FutureBARBADOS ProjectCATAPULT experience, and discovering the full wealth of resources that this opportunity offers,” Henry said.
